One of the most compelling Tektites, Moldavite is the naturally water-etched result of a meteoritic impact in southern Germany that occurred about 14.7 million years ago, forming the Nördlinger Ries Crater. It is approximately 77% silica. This example is from Chlum, Benešov District, Central Bohemia, Czech Republic. 1.82 gms, 1" x .125" x .75".
